What to Expect

• Phase 1
  • The classroom curriculum is based on the NRA Basic Pistol course.
  • Written test (open book) and re-view.
  • Work on safe handgun handling with plastic replica guns.
• Phase 2
  • Ease into shooting with pellet guns. Zero recoil and very quiet. With pellet guns, you can learn excellent technique.
• Phase 3
  • Ease further into shooting with light-weight ammo, 22LR. Negligible recoil and comfortable noise level. (Eye and ear protection are used.)
  • Optionally proceed to 9MM, the most common handgun caliber. By the time, you’ve shot enough that the recoil and noise is not that big a deal.
  • Optionally proceed to a variety of other handguns—revolver (9MM, 38 special, 9MM, and 357 Mag-num.) .380, and 45ACP. Guns range in size from a “pocket pistol” that can fit in a back pocket to full size handguns. Most are smaller for concealed carry.

Everyone ends up having fun in this class. But more importantly, you develop muscle memory of safe handling skills. We start drilling safe gun handling within the first ten minutes of class using plastic replica guns.
